As part of Channel 4’s ambition for their coverage of this year’s Grand National, we were commissioned to create and produce a filmic, innovative opening film; a poetic piece that told the epic and magical history of this ultimate equine endurance race – ‘where anything can happen, and often does’.
Performed by James Nesbitt, and written and directed by Simon Baker, “I Want to Tell You a Story” is an ode to ‘The People’s Race’, drawing the viewer into a compelling, almost otherworldly, journey through tales, fables and legends.
Called ‘utterly magnificent’ by Jay Hunt, C4’s Chief Creative Officer, and ‘sensational’ by Ed Havard, C4’s Head of Events, the film was shown to the 9 million viewers of the Grand National, just before the race on Channel 4.
